Grandma And Grandpa Muir Come To Visit

Ryan's parents came down to meet little miss Paisley. They loved every minute with her. They even watched her while I ran to the book store (Yes, can you believe my baby was only a few days old and I have already left her, well better do it sooner than later).
Rod and Carrie are moving to Salt Lake City. We are so excited that they will be so much closer and not to mention Ryan and I love Salt Lake City, so needless to say we will be going up there frequently.

Paisley Rae

To get the whole story, we have to tell you a little bit of pregnancy history.

This pregnancy has gone fairly easy until the last little bit. Des has been battling high blood pressure for the last part of the pregnancy and with that comes Non-stress tests every few days. This past week, we went in for a regular check up with the doctor when he looked at Desi's blood test results and found that her blood platelets were getting too low. Because of this, the doc then looked at us and said, "you'll be having this baby tonight or tomorrow." Des, freaked while I was totally happy that the baby was coming.

We went home, packed, let Des freak out a little more, and then headed off too Cheesecake Factory with her friend Megan for Desi's last meal before going to the hospital. They induced her at 10 pm Wednesday night with a cervidil. By 11 am Thursday morning it was time for the Pitocin. About 3 hours later the nurse came in to help with the hourly roll over of Des and during this, she started to get a little nauseous and threw up. Minute later Paisley's heart rate went from 150 to 40 and eight nurses rushed in. The nurses gave Paisley some drugs to try and raise her heart rate and those didn't work. Within minutes Des was rushed into the OR for an emergency C-section. Poor Des was so drugged up that she slept through the whole c-section. She was snoring so much that the Doctors were wondering what the anesthesiologist gave her.

Paisley Rae was born at 2:12 pm weighing in at 6 lbs 9 oz. She was a long 19 inches and is as cute as can be.

The C-section went great and mom and baby came out of the OR perfectly. Paisley got an APGAR of 6, 8, and 9. Her blood glucose was low and we almost had to make a trip to the NICU until she finally scored above 50! They drew so much blood so many times from her, her poor little feet are just torn up.

Sunday afternoon finally came around and mom and baby were discharged healthy and happy!

Let The Countdown Begin

28 WEEKS 2 DAYS

30 WEEKS 5 DAYS

32 WEEKS

33 WEEKS 2 DAYS

35 WEEKS 4 DAYS

My 1st and 2nd trimester were nothing. I even told Ryan that if I hadn't taken a pregnancy test I could see my self on "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant". Well now that I am in my 3rd trimester the wheels have turned.
*I wake up at least every two hours to take a drink.
*My feet are so swollen that my skin folds over my sock line.
*And my hands swell up so much at night that when I wake up I cant close them to make a fist.
I'll be the first to admit that I am such a complainer. I'm sure Ryan is excited for this baby to pop out just so I'll shut up.
I now understand why pregnant women say, "I just want it out already"
I think the only positive thing I can say is that I still fit into my jeans!!! oh yeah! still no stretch marks or tiger stripe wahoooo

I still plan on working till the last day of school which is May 26th. I was going to put my two week notice in but instead I talked to my boss and asked to get Monday's and Fridays off so I can get things that should have been done a month or two ago DONE. Since Ryan works nights and I work days, we never have time to do things together so with having those days off it will help immensely. Like yesterday for instance....
*Ryan and I registered at the hospital
*Went to the doctor ( I now go every Monday)
*Painted the "tree" in the babies room
*got approved for our second insurance
*and started making calls to find a pediatrician (this will take a while because I am very peaky with doctors)
We still have a list of things that we need to do together so I am very grateful that my boss gave me those days off or else I would be one hot mess.

I am so excited for our baby to come! I think my biggest fear is that its going to pop out a boy....YIKES! the room is as pink as it gets. so hopefully in a couple of weeks when we get our last ultrasound we can double check to make sure there is nothing between those legs.

So next monday I am getting my maternity pictures done by Korindi. I love her photos and you get what you want for the price you want! And on May 21st I am having my baby shower!!!! it's about time, with school and work this was really the only day I could do it. Hopefully she doesn't come early because I am due two weeks later. If so, there will just be a little guest attending.

Well I better get to bed, hopefully these pains will go away. Ya thats right I have been having random pain all day. I'm trying not to worry because I think its just my ovarian cyst acting up, but who knows. If they don't go away tomorrow then I'll be calling my doctor to see what he says. See there I go complaining again.. Good night!

P.S. I LOVE LOOKING PREGNANT!!!! I feel like 32 weeks did me good! Even my little kiddos have noticed a change in me. They rub my tummy every day :)

Buggin!

Well, Betsy is gone....

My lil sister is now the proud owner of my Ford Focus which means I needed to get myself a ride. Desi's parents had a 1966 Voltswagon Beetle in their garage and gave it to us! The engine needed a little love at first to get running and that was the start of all my fun! Over the past 2 weeks I have been spending every free hour in the garage gutting and restoring this beautiful vehicle to the glory that it once knew.

This Beetle originally came painted in what they call 'Alibaster' white. The interior was done in a factory red vinyl with matching carpeting. So to be true to what this vehicle was, I felt the need to restore it back to everything that it once was and not change much on it. I went with the same exterior paint and chose a red basketweave vinyl interior. The side panels are done in matching red vinyl. I upgraded the carpet to a more resiliant and higher quality than what was originally installed. The headliner is the same 'alibaster' white as it had before, except I decided to do the smooth 'crushed' top rather than the perforated. I found a replica 60's radio that I installed to add to the originality of the car. Speakers were also something that needed to be added since the car only had 2 of them in it when I got it. New running boards were also added since the old ones were rusted out, new window moldings added, dents removed, and many other things have been worked on.

This is a beautiful vehicle that has been both fun and frustrating to work on. I couldn't have done it with out Larry's help on the interior, Dustin's help on the stereo, and everyone else that has been helping me out.

We will add pictures of BEFORE AND AFTER when it is all done!!!

Nashville Update!!

After starting my journey with trying to get hired by the Nashville Metropolitan Fire Department many months ago. I finally heard back from them after the interview that I had at the beginning of January. Unfortunantly I wont be getting a call for an interview or to start the academy that begins in May. It sucks to hear that but we knew once I started this process that it was going to be a long one.

On the other hand, the email they sent me wasn't all bad news. I did however make it onto the hiring list. This list is valid for up to 3 years which means the next time that they have an academy, they will take names off of this list to fill the academy. I don't know where I am ranked on the list, but to be on it is an accomplishment I am proud of since this is the first department I have tried to be hired by and since I have made it as far as I have.

Now where to apply.....

It's A GIRL

Wahoooooo we are having a GIRL!!!!
Just like I said. WEll, our ultrasound was on Thursday morning but for some reason I thought it was on Wednesday (that was just a regular check up for me). Since I didn't have orange juice to get the baby jumpin, I ate two ice cream bars and a couple of sips of Squirt. Then once I realized that the ultrasound was tomorrow and not today I laughed and said, "well, I guess I am just going to have to do the same tomorrow."
Then the BIG DAY CAME!!!! We were so excited! First the tech checked the babies heart and did some quick measurements. While she was doing the measurements I thought I saw something between the legs so I was thinking that I was wrong this whole pregnancy. But then she went back between the legs and I said," I knew it, it's a girl huh." the tech was like YEP! Ryan and I are so excited! Ryan said he knew it was a girl because he lives in a house full of girls, even our dogs and fishes are girls. Maybe out next baby will be a boy.
